The Egbert Family Reunion was held in the Dominican Republic this year. We had to take the red eye flight to Atlanta-it was rough with 11 kids but, somehow, we made it...Barely.
Before we left, I dropped my phone and the screen shattered so this picture turned out extremely blurry, but I just had to capture the scene we made. If we wanted to travel together, we had to take a BUS! At least it was air-conditioned.
We couldn't wait to get out to the beach. It was so incredibly hot and humid!
I'm ready, let's go!
It was beautiful and the water was so warm!
After we had enough sand, we would go cool off at the kiddie pool. There was a pirate ship and a water slide. It was perfect.
Baby Paityn was so quiet the whole trip, I forgot she was there. What a trooper.
McCrae may have enjoyed our tub more than he did the ocean.
He started doing this funny face while we were there and had us all laughing.
The grounds at the resort were so large, we often took a shuttle to get around. One morning, McCrae had us up so early we decided to walk to breakfast and we found Peacocks...
and ducks! McCrae was in heaven.
Papa decided to take us out on an excursion and we went to Manati Park.
We saw a very interesting, but entertaining horse show. McCrae loved it.
He even got to ride a pony with cousin Rylee.
He just loved hanging out in his speedo all day,
and playing in the fountains,
and riding in colorful busses with no car seats.
While we were there, we had a chance to swim with dolphins!
The next day we went on another adventure. We were able to have an educational trip into the Dominican Republic.
A little local boy running alongside our bus.
We learned about how sugar cane is turned into sugar and we even got to chew on raw sugar cane-it was so sweet!
The fence was made out of large leaves.
We were eaten alive by mosquitos, but the rainforest was beautiful.
We learned about turning coffee beans into coffee,
and cocoa into chocolate,
and tobacco into cigarettes.
On our way home, we stopped at a boogie-boarding beach and Conner was conned into buying a grass hat. We actually ended up getting some pretty good use out of it. And the young Domincan boys were too cute-I wish we could have bought ten more.
After seeing too many topless women, I decided it would be okay for McCrae to go bottomless.
In the lobby of the resort, there was a photo booth that advertised a variety of pictures and poses. You could have them take your picture and they would make it look like you were on the cover of Vogue magazine. There was a few raunchy pictures. One, in particular, was of a couple in a rather provocative pose. Conner and I decided to recreate it with our own special flare.
McCrae's magazine picture.
I couldn't even count the number of people who thought they were Vogue-worthy!
We were sure glad Marissa made it home in time to join us!
Don't tell Heather!
We just couldn't get enough of this bum.
It was a great trip and we are so glad that Grammy and Papa made it possible. We are so lucky to have them in our lives. We can't wait for the next reunion in 2016!
