Weekend Getaway

Conner and I were able to go on a little weekend getaway this past weekend. Unfortunately, it wasn't with each other. Although we were apart, we both had tons of fun. Conner went to visit his brother Dave and his family in Cincinnati.
They went to a University of Cincinnati basketball game which Conner thought was wonderful. They beat Georgetown and the crowd was wild.

It rained the entire trip.  Each night Conner and Dave would take turns pumping water out of the window wells...its a good thing Conner was there to help, or the basement might have looked like this.
I went to California with my friend Michelle to visit a good friend from work. Michelle, Elizabeth, and I were hired together at Primary Children's. It ended up being a great weekend to visit. The weather was perfect.
We went shopping at the garment district and had great success!
Elizabeth's husband goes to school at UC Irvine and we wanted to check out the school. There is a park right in the center of the campus. There were tons of huge trees. It was beautiful.

We went to Newport beach, ate delicious tacos at Great Mex (Tacos are only one dollar on Friday!), and cruised up and down the boardwalk. Who would have thought you could lay out in March?
Although I only met these girls a couple of years ago, I feel like we've known each other forever. We never stopped talking and laughing. It was a great weekend.

A True All-Star

We have loved watching Marissa play basketball this season (#4). She was amazing. She beat Vanessa Hutson's record for the most 3-pointers made at Brighton High School in one season!
The State Tournament
Unfortunately, Marissa dislocated her kneecap in the second half and had to sit the rest of the game. Brighton lost and Marissa was just one 3-point shot away from being in the state record books. She was a good sport...I think I was more upset than she was! Congrats on a good season Marissa-We love you!

Story for the Day

When you think you are going through a tough time, read about this little boy...you'll want to see more pictures of his birthday by linking to the Facebook page.

Happy Valentine's Day

We started off the day with pink, heart-shaped pancakes....yum!
The set-up...all pinks and purples. Good thing I have such a variety of plasticware.
When Conner got home from work, we enjoyed a candlelight dinner together.
Chicken Cordon Bleu...easy recipe, and it was delicious!
My valentine brought these tulips home for me...they were beautiful! He called on the way home from work and told me trax broke down, so he was going to be late. He is such a sneak!
A few days later they blossomed and they were incredible.
It was a great day.  I love you Conner. Thank you for being my Valentine.
