Labor Day Weekend

I had been wanting to see Wicked while it was in Salt Lake and was searching the internet for some discount prices. Unfortunately, I couldn't find what I was looking for. During the search, I learned that they would next be traveling to Vegas. I bought some nosebleed seats, and Conner and I planned a last minute trip down South. We left for St. George Friday night after Conner got home from work. NEVER again will we travel that late on Labor Day weekend. The traffic was atrocious! We finally arrived at our destination around midnight. Karla Jenkins was nice enough to let us stay in her beautiful St. George home. It was so nice. Conner and I felt like we were at a five-star hotel! This is a picture of the beautiful sky Saturday morning.
After a quick work out and a yummy breakfast, we headed to Vegas for the day. It took some convincing, but Conner agreed to ride the Big Shot atop the Stratosphere tower. It was so fun! And he was glad he did it.

We ate lunch at a little diner inside the Stratosphere and then drove to the Smith Center-a brand new theatre off the strip. It was really nice and we were excited for the show. Although we may have missed some detail in our balcony seats, the show was incredible. Conner loved it! I was so happy he could finally share in my love for the Wicked soundtrack-we listened to it all the way back to St. George.
We saw a billboard for Tuacahn on the way home and, since we were were on a theatre high, decided we should try and make it to the show. We made it just in the nick of time! I bought some tickets from a guy that was selling them for cheap-he said he didn't know where exactly they were, but he'd give them to me for 20 bucks each. Boy, did we rip him off! They were on the 5th row! We were exhausted by the end-Conner may have fallen asleep for a few minutes, but Hairspray was awesome and we were glad we made it a theatre-filled day. The eight year old taking the picture obviously had a difficult time holding the camera straight. I guess my expectations can't be too high when I ask a child to take my picture.
Sunday we slept in and enjoyed the morning together. That afternoon we met up with Julianne and Garrett for church. Julianne made us dinner after church and it was delicious. We had fun catching up with them and spent the rest of the evening at their house watching a movie, eating popcorn, and sampling smoothies from their new high-tech blender.  Monday morning, we cleaned and packed up but met Julianne and Garrett for a little game of pickle ball on our way out of town. Its an old person's game but it was intense! I think it became our new favorite game. We can't wait for a rematch!
After the game we grabbed some lunch then headed home early. We didn't want to hit the same traffic we did on the way down. I am so glad we decided to throw a little vacation together. We did so many fun things in just a few short days!
