With fourteen people, we made quite a scene. We barely fit in the elevator.
The girls built a Mayan ruin sand castle. We collected seashells to decorate. We were even able to collect full size conch shells...IF you were daring enough to get your ankles a little beat up by the waves and rocks.
Julianne...an American Barbie.
Dylan kept stealing my Oreos and came out of the pool looking like this...
The newest member of the Egbert family...Luke Bryant Egbert. He is two months old and he was great the entire trip!
My parents let all of the kids go out for a nice dinner at our hotel while they watched the kids. It was delicious and we had tons of fun reminiscing about the good ol' days.
The lifeguard on the beach, Pavel, collected sea turtle eggs and let us help him release them into the wild. We had to release them at night since the birds usually eat the poor little guys before they even make it to the water. He had hundreds of turtles and he said only three or four would live. It was so cool seeing the little dudes crawl to sea. They heard the ocean and they about jumped out of your hands they were so anxious to get into the water. We just kept saying, "Come on little dude, be strong. Find the EAC and you can meet up with all the turtle dudes from Finding Nemo...they'll take care of you!" I know, a little nerdy but it was fun!
One day, we went on a little excursion. My parents, Cam and Tiffany, and the kids went to XCaret, and those of us without children went to Xplor. It was awesome. We went jeeping, zip-lining, and rafted and swam through caves filled with stalactites and stalagmites.
Conner was so nice to let me drive every time. He only yelled at me once when I hit a tree..."That was too close and YOU KNOW IT!"
With the headlights on, we drove through underground caves. We were cautious the first time, but pummeled through the water once we got the hang of it.
These iguanas were all over the hotel. They were really nice and loved sun-bathing right along with the rest of us. One of them even jumped up on a guest's lap and took a bite of his pizza!
We stayed at an all-inclusive resort so we didn't have to leave, but we did go out to dinner one night. For some reason, my dad thought Senor Frogs would be a nice family-friendly place to take all of the children. (Probably had something to do with the coupons they gave him). So we got dressed up all fancy and wore our baloon corsages for a night out on the town.
It actually ended up being really fun. Londyn and Dylan loved their huge cups!
And doing the YMCA standing on your chair at dinner isn't something you do every day.
Heather and I...gettin' our groove on.
It was a relaxing trip lying by the pool all day!
We took wave runners out on the ocean one day. It was so fun. This is Heather, despite being a new mother, risking her life being adventurous.
Even Dylan took a turn.
Thanks to my mom and dad for the family reunion. We loved every minute of it!
